Hi, my name is Bill Detamore, President of Pork Pie Percussion.

In 1987, I started making drums as a hobby. I sold one, made two more and so on. This evolved into some of the finest handmade drums available today. To take snare drums one step further, I introduced solid (one piece), exotic wood stave and plate brass designs. We now have a complete line of hardware and accessories to round out the line.

Over the years, Pork Pie™ has become the place where a drummer can hot rod an existing kit with edges and refinishing, or design the kit of their dreams. My signature is on the inside of every Pork Pie™ drum*. This is my guarantee of quality. My goal is your total satisfaction.

Remember, the most important tools at Pork Pie™ are...my hands.

History of Mr. Odery In the year of 1989, Mr. Odery made his first drumset. I can remember the day he got unemployed and said: “I’m gonna make drumsets!”. “He’s out of his mind”, we thought. But it was no insanity. He went to a scrapyard, and to a wood shop, made some iron molder and there begins the history of Odery Drums, born from my old man’s crazy dream, this wonderful one. In the beginning, the shell was made of MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard), painted with a small roll, the hardware had zinc finish, and the drums finish was made of synthetic glossy paint.. It was really simple, but there was an objective, and a dream to conquer. With a lot of willingness and work, we always invested in the instruments improvement. We started to create our own machines, to build new molder always hearing opinions and suggestions from drummers close to us and, this way, reaching a great quality, and instruments with amazing sound. We never stopped investing in new machines, thinking about what we could improve, hearing the drummers, and giving quality to our employees. All of this added to a great caress – given by everyone to create each Odery – allow us to drive a company that surprises, since the first contact, to the moment our costumers open the pack in their houses. Today we can say that part of our dream is accomplished by the fact we have the caress and admiration of musicians, in Brazil and around World, and a structure that serves our needs to offer a leading instrument, that can be described in one word: Quality. Finally, we must to thank all that somehow collaborate with Odery to become this precious, and respectable brand, that represents the best of Brazil. Mauricio Odery

All of our drum kits use 6 ply shells for the toms and bass drums. The snare drums can be just about any # of ply you want. We recommend 10, 20, 30, or 40 ply as these are the strongest configurations. We can also do reinforcement rings in drum kits and snare drums. We currently have thousands of different finishes from standard laminates, to glass sparkles, to satin stains, to metals, to hi gloss lacquers, to acrylics to custom paint jobs. We do not know all of the finishes we can do as we have not done them all yet, but we will try to do anything you can come up with.

Sizes
You can order just about any size drum you want. The price list does not show the depth as the depth does not affect the price unless you get compact drums.

We can build snare drum from 6” to 16” in diameter, toms from 6” to 20” in diameter, and bass drums from 16” to 36”. The depth can be just about any size you want. Compact drums can sound amazing and many of our artists, like Adrian Young and Travis Barker, use them on their kits. The compact drums tend to have lots of attack, but they lose a little depth and volume. They also tend to have a slightly higher pitch than their standard size counterparts.

Options
One of the things that makes OCDP different from other companies is the options and the finishes. All of our drum kits get the same amount of craftsmanship and all of the same high quality parts. We use stainless steel screws, lock washers, and seal washers just to attach our lugs to the shell.

Even the insides of our drums are hand sanded and then sealed to a satin finish . The edges always have a ply of flatness for a true sound and for maximum resonance. The edges are also sanded smooth for a very finished feel. All of our logo badges are engraved aluminum for a custom look. The difference in the prices reflects the finish and the options, not the amount of work put into each drum or the materials used because all of our drums get the same treatment.

Custom Drums. There seems to be quite a few companies making them these days. Most buy shells from the same manufacturer, mount hardware they bought from some place else, and apply a custom paint job. The end result, after a lot of hype, is a custom drum set...or is it?

Masterworks hopes to change the way drummers view a custom set of drums. At Pearl, the word custom holds quite a bit more reverence. It means we made it, not assembled it. It means everything about the kit is made by hand, one piece at a time, by a Pearl master craftsman. From hand selecting the finest woods and painstakingly forming the shell, to die casting and plating the hardware that mounts to it, drums bearing the Masterworks badge are one of a kind ultimate acoustic instruments, hand made to your specifications, with the expertise and quality no other company can match.

Neil Longo, owner / founder, a drummer since early age started making his own custom solid drums in the early 90's. Bent, using equipment he built himself from his own design, Neil fashioned his truly custom solid drums on traditions passed down from an entire generation of carpenters. His father, and his father before him both impressed a solid foundation of craftsmanship onto Neil. A foundation which translated beautifully into the finely crafted drums Longo Drums now sells.

Neil's expertise with various types of wood combined with his keen understanding of pitch and sound can be seen not only in the beautiful appearance of these stunning drums but also in their resonance Longo Drums produce a pure, clean sound, each one set to pitch by hand. Since only the most quality parts are used, right down to Neil's hand-picked and prepared woods, the build of the drum remains a sight to be seen - and heard.

With all of this attention to detail and hand craftsmanship you might expect that Longo Drums are meant only for true professionals. The truth is, although a seasoned professional will appreciate the results of Neil's masterful work, Longo Drums are priced in a very affordable range, so any serious hobbyist or amature drummer can experience the thrill of playing on a professionally hand-crafted drum.

There is a proliferation of custom drum companies out there. They appear in every acronym combination from D to W to G to M to S. What they really offer comes down to color options.

To stand out in this cluttered environment, you better have something more to offer than a fancy finish. That’s why Ford gives you the choice of drum series: Organic (solid, one-piece, steam-bent in over 40 wood species—both domestic and exotic), Ply Series (100% North American Maple or Birch in 10/10 or straight 10-ply configuration), and the Maverick Series (10-ply North American Maple with our exclusive BTS finish—the most durable, road-worthy finish in the world). We also cut the appropriate bearing edge for the size and type of drum and offer unlimited finish options including the aforementioned BTS, gloss or satin lacquer, fade, burst, exotic veneer, custom graphics, or the myriad of wraps currently available to all drum companies.

At Drum Workshop, The Drummer’s Choice® is more than a slogan, it’s a fact. After more than thirty years of innovation and tireless dedication to improving the way drum products are made, DW drums, pedals and hardware are the standard by which all others are measured. To get here, it takes more than a working knowledge of the instrument or a few good ideas; it takes a true passion for designing and manufacturing the very best.

“It’s remarkable that in our 31st year, the excitement level of coming to work is every bit as much now as when we started,” DW Founder and President Don Lombardi says.
